We are today surrounded by Plastics. From automotive parts, cooking utensils, electronics, daily use items to all kind of packages; today plastic is substituting all traditional materials.

Plastics are extremely durable and this may be tied to its great resistance to degradation or chemical breakdown. This makes plastics products last longer compared to metals which tend to rust.
You do have to consider the fact that what we say plastics, is not one single product but rather there are thousands of types of plastics each having their own set of advantages and disadvantages. It's this versatility that makes it such a lucrative material for various application.
